Students at the Phatsimang, Moremogolo and town campuses of the Technical, Vocational Education and Training Colleges in Kimberley have dispersed after waiting since 06:00 on Friday morning for management to address them.

Students vowed that the shutdown of TVET colleges in Kimberley would continue next week due to anger over several courses that will no longer be offered from next year, including part-time, correspondence and supplementary exams.

The SRC deputy secretary general, Nompumelelo Nqumashe, said promises were made that the principal of the Northern Cape TVET college would speak to students on Monday morning.

The principal, Brian Madalane, condemned the disruption of classes and cautioned students to exercise restraint.
