Commission for Gender Equality welcomes sentencing of "Sunday Rapist"─── 17:35 Wed, 19 Sep 2012

The Commission for Gender Equality has welcomed the sentencing of "Sunday Rapist" Johannes Jacobus Steyn.
It says this will send a strong message that the Sexual Offences Act and other related matters are being taken seriously by the criminal justice system.
Steyn was found guilty on 33 out of 37 charges, including murder, culpable homicide, rape, sexual assault, kidnapping, and attempted kidnapping in the High Court sitting in Alberton.
Judge Sita Kolbe sentenced him to five life sentences.
The commission thanked all those who testified against Steyn.
