Bloemfontein - The man who allegedly shot a police officer in Pellissier, Bloemfontein last week was granted R10 000 bail in the city's Magistrate’s Court today.
Marius Terblanche is charged with attempted murder and the discharge of a firearm after he allegedly shot Mathe Sefuthi three times in the legs.
A neighbour alerted the police after he allegedly heard gunshots emerging from Terblanche’s house in what was thought to be a domestic dispute.
Investigating Officer Domkrag Mathibela said he feared for the life of Terblanche because many of his colleagues say they would have killed him if he had shot at them. Mathibela added that one bullet hit the injured policeman’s gun and split the barrel in half.
Terblanche has to be back in court on 10 July.
