An accident near Riebeeckstad in Welkom in the Free State this morning has claimed one life.
According to Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Sipho Towa, a bakkie overturned and the driver was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
He adds that in another accident on the N1 road near Kroonstad this morning, seven people were left injured when a taxi collided with a truck. They were transported to the Boitumelo hospital in Kroonstad. According to Towa, the taxi was travelling from Welkom to Johannesburg.
This puts the death toll due to carnage this week in the province to three.
