According to ER24, eight people, including a child believed to be three years of age, were killed when a taxi crashed down an embankment on the N12, 30km outside of Wolmaransstad. 

A taxi was found on the side of the road with several patients scattered along the side of the road. 

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, says six people, including a child, also died on a separate incident while two others were left injured following a head-on collision on the N12, 20km outside of Potchefstroom. Two light motor vehicles collided head-on and were found on opposite sides of the road. “One patient came from one vehicle, while seven patients were found lying around the second vehicle.

Medics assessed the patients and found that six people, including another three-year-old boy, had sustained numerous fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead,” Meiring adds.

Meiring says all patients who suffered in both incidents were then transferred to different local hospitals for medical attention.
