Istutter campaign founder, Tumi Modibedi, tells OFM News that he is well on his way to Theunissen in the Free State. He adds that he is thankful for the various stakeholders that have contributed to making his 225km walk from Bloemfontein to Kroonstad a reality. Modibedi says that he is thankful for the Toyota Cheetahs, the Department of Education, as well as the Department of Social Development who have joined hands with him as he spreads awareness about speech disorders. Modibedi adds that he was extremely pleased that the MEC for Social Development, Mamiki Qabathe, joined him as he commenced his 225km long journey yesterday.

“It’s amazing how everyone saw a vision that one had and they were like 'No, Tumi, it's fine. Let’s make it our own, let’s make sure that your vision is ours because you are not doing it for yourself but for the stuttering nation,” he adds.

Modibedi further adds that the support of emergency services has come in handy on his journey. 

OFM News reports that on Day 2 of his journey he had a mild niggle in his left ankle. However, he was checked out by EMS and declared fit to carry on. He explained that he will be joined by a different group of people at each town on his walk, who will join him for a set amount of kilometres.

Additionally, his endless supply of water and energy drinks keep him and his team as hydrated as possible. He says they will overnight in Theunissen, where they will prepare for the next destination. OFM News previously reported that he planned on spending his first evening in Brandfort in the Free State. He is committed to the cause and remains motivated for the completion of his journey to raise awareness about speech disorders nationwide.
