Brits is a fertile gem in North West─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 13:00 Tue, 23 Sep 2025

Brits, along with nearby Babelegi and Beestekraal, is a vibrant farming town in the Bojanala region in North West.
Established in 1924 on the Roode Kopjes farm and named after its owner, Gert Brits, the town sits on exceptionally fertile land. It is ideal for producing refreshing citrus crops, thanks to irrigation from the Hartbeespoort Dam.
Historically, Brits holds significance as the site where the 1864 Boer Civil War armistice treaty was signed under a karee tree. Today, with a growing population of about 13,000, Brits is experiencing rapid development driven by increased mining activity.
‘Lush natural surroundings’
The town offers a variety of outdoor adventures, including hiking, biking, and swimming, set against lush natural surroundings.
Popular attractions include the Carousel Entertainment Complex, De Wildt Cheetah Centre, Finfoot Lake Reserve, Magaliesberg Grain Corporation, the Peace Tree, and Rainbow Cultural Village.
