A close friend of former deputy president Jacob "JZ" Zuma and successful businessman, Schabir Shaik, was found guilty on two counts of corruption and one count of fraud by retired Judge Hilary Squires at the Durban High Court.
The outcome of the politically charged trial, which implicated Zuma, prompted the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to ponder opening a corruption charge against him.
In his verdict Judge Squires announced that there was a corrupt relationship between Shaik and Zuma.
