Bloemfontein - The Australian Rugby Union have drawn the line and axed controversial Wallabies winger James O’Conner.
O’Connors' sacking comes with three months remaining on his current contract.
The ARU took the decision after a series of off-field incidents came to a head last month when the player was denied access to a flight to Bali with his girlfriend because he was under the influence of alcohol.
O’Connor will not be offered a top-up contract and will not be considered for the Australians six remaining test matches for the year.
The ARU indicated that should O’Connor be offered a future contract he should be prepared to accept a massive salary cut and face earning up to AUS$ 300 000 less than his current contract.
He will still be registered as an Australian player and will be able to sign with the Western Force and be eligible for Test selection next year.
