The MY LITTLE PONY brand has been a favorite part of growing up for almost 30 years. The beloved brand has inspired several hit TV shows, videos, games, accessories, books, and more. The current TV series, MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC, continues that legacy. It has also broken new ground, inspiring online activities and discussions as well as sparking fan-created videos and online communities of fans of all ages.

Designed to engage, entertain, and educate young children, MY LITTLE PONY remains a girl's best friend -- one that teaches her about herself and her world. And it does so with the most valuable tools of all: the magic of friendship and the power of play.
Here are some highlights from the history of MY LITTLE PONY.

1981: Illustrator Bonnie Zackerle, working with sculptor Charles Muenchinger, creates the first My Pretty Pony toy.
1983: Bonnie Zakerle goes to work for Hasbro, and My Pretty Pony becomes MY LITTLE PONY. Hasbro releases a set of six ponies: COTTON CANDY, CLUE BELLE, BUTTERSCOTCH, MINTY, SNUZZLE, and BLOSSOM.

1983 -- 1992: MY LITTLE PONY continues to be a popular children's toy line Earth Ponies, Pegasus Ponies, Unicorn Ponies, Flutter Ponies, Sea Ponies, as well as Twinkle-Eyed Ponies, Brush 'n Grow Ponies, and many others live in an enchanted world known as DREAM VALLEY.

1984: MY LITTLE PONY is ready for prime-time with "Rescue at Midnight Castle," the brand's first television special.
1985: The success of the first TV special launches a second one entitled "Escape from Catrina."
1986: The ponies star in their first full-length feature film, "My Little Pony: The Movie."
1986 - 1987: The TV series "My Little Pony 'n' Friends" delights and engages fans of all ages.

1992: Hasbro celebrates the 10th Anniversary of MY LITTLE PONY with a collection of ponies including SWEET KISSES, COLORSWIRL, SIPPIN’ SODA, BIRTHDAY PONY, WEDDING PONY, FLOWER FANTASY, SUNDAZZLE, SWEET TALKIN’, FANCY MERMAID, PARADISE BABY, and TEENY BABY TWINS.
1992: A new TV series begins, entitled "My Little Pony Tales."

1997: The second MY LITTLE PONY toy line is introduced. This time, the ponies live in a land called FRIENDSHIP GARDENS.
2003 -- 2009: Several MY LITTLE PONY videos are released, ranging from "A Charming Birthday" (2003) to "My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure" (2009).

2010: Renowned animator Lauren Faust re-envisions the ponies, giving them a new look and adventurous storylines set in the kingdom of Equestria. Faust develops the TV series MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC which accompanies a new toy line, online activities, and more pony fun.
