PACOFS Spotlight - Stage productions on until 2 Sept─── 08:28 Wed, 02 Aug 2023
To celebrate women’s month, The Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (PACOFS) will be staging 3 productions on 5 August, all featuring women in the casts.
The three productions, Ranavalona (from Madagascar), Women Can and Noka Namahadi will be staged at 18:00, 19:00 and 20:00 consecutively.

Ranavalona, produced by Itrota art and Connection NPC, is inspired by the extraordinary life of the last queen of Madagascar. It aims to celebrate women in our society and across the world through time and space, to present and represent women in an undaunted manner.

Women can, with the all-female band AbafaziBengoma, provides a festive atmosphere with its unplugged African indigenous music, singing and vibrant dancing in interaction with the audience.

Noka namahadi, produced by Dudu Makhoba, is a production that will take you back to the 60’s - showcasing an all-African Jazz playlist, commemorating African history.

South Africa has been celebrating women during the month of August since 1994. It serves as a reminder of the tough and tenacious, gracious and above all courageous women who have continued to shape the future. Women's month is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on women's achievements, as well as the problems they have faced in the struggle to be free and the important role they continue to play in society. Apart from their traditional roles as mothers, wives and caregivers, statistics show that women are making great progress in business, politics, academics and in the art sector with more and more women reaching top positions.
Tickets are available at Web Tickets, Boxer, Pick n Pay, and the PACOFS booking office. For more information phone 051-447-7771.
