Fred Roed, the CEO of Heavy Chef, is back on the show to talk about their latest business recipe book which is the brainchild of the Heavy Chef Foundation, @Payfast and Pan Macmillan South Africa.
It's titled 'Selling Products Online' and gets into the A's and B's of e-commerce via tips from some seasoned national brands.
Roed tells the OFM Business Hour that Selling Products Online is a companion piece to the books: Starting a Business in South Africa; and Financial Management for Startups. The book aims to address the varied challenges that e-commerce businesses face in the startup phase, which he maintains are no different to the challenges faced by a brick-and-mortar business.

Back in May 2023, Roed told the OFM Business Hour that the Heavy Chef Guide to Financial Management for Startups aims to address the dearth of budgeting skills in the entrepreneurial space.
Heavy Chef’s survey into the financial habits of over 9000 South African entrepreneurs revealed that:
- 78% of South Africa’s entrepreneurs rate their budgeting skills as very poor to average;
- and a more sobering 41% learned about budgeting only after they started their own business.
