Video raises concern over Kroonstad water─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 16:12 Thu, 23 Jan 2020
The Moqhaka Local Municipality in the Free State is awaiting lab tests to confirm whether its water is safe for consumption or not.
This, after a video of unhygienic water alleged to be from taps in Kroonstad, has caused a stir on social media.
The video depicting a glass of water with what seems to be worms in it while two people are discussing the poor quality of water in Maokeng, Kroonstad, is making rounds on Twitter and Facebook. Users sharing and commenting on the video are raising health concerns over the quality of water in the town and demand answers from the municipality. While the municipality’s spokesperson, Dika Kheswa, assured OFM News that he would tomorrow respond to the set of questions sent to him, he has meanwhile confirmed that they are aware of the video circulating on social media although they are not sure of its authenticity.
He said according to their preliminary tests, no contamination was found in their water and they are now consulting an independent laboratory, whose test results are expected on Friday.
