Central SAFS pastor to appear in court for rape, human trafficking

A Bloemfontein pastor is expected to appear in the Local Magistrate’s Court on charges of rape and human trafficking. He was arrested at his residence in Lakeview, Bloemspruit, on Sunday 20 June 2021.
According to the Hawks spokesperson, Christopher Singo, the victim was allegedly offered a domestic job on Friday 18 June 2021, which included babysitting a four-year-old child of the suspect at his house. Singo further stated that the alleged perpetrator had told the victim that he was going to attend a church service in Thaba Nchu on Friday night. It is alleged that the victim did not attend the service that night and he raped the victim repeatedly on Friday and Saturday. It is alleged that the suspect refused to release the victim.
She managed to contact the police after she was able to get hold of the suspect's phone and later escaped with the cell phone and the suspect’s son. The Hawks team were called in to assist and the perpetrator was eventually arrested.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Local Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 23 June 2021.
