MSDF pressures Free State Health | News Article

The pressure group Mangaung Service Delivery Forum (MSDF) has accused the Free State Health Department of not taking care of community health workers.

This after ongoing meetings with the Premier’s Office and health officials in the Free State.

MSDF chairperson, Potso Motoko, told OFM News that some of their demands in the memorandum include that these workers must be hired permanently and also receive the same benefits as permanent healthcare workers.

Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, however, told OFM News that the hiring of community health workers is the responsibility of the national office.

“In all provinces, community health workers are not yet permanent because the issue must be processed at the Bargaining Chamber first. Up until that has happened, our hands are tied,” said Mvambi.

OFM News previously reported that the Free State MEC for Police, Roads, and Transport, William Bulwane, had accepted a memorandum of grievances from residents who marched to the Office of the Premier in the past few weeks.

The MSDF also wanted Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela to fire the MEC for Health, Montseng Tsiu, for issues faced by healthcare workers in the province.
