#MangaungShutdown movement eyes education, health─── LUCKY NKUYANE 05:28 Mon, 27 Sep 2021

A Bloemfontein-based pressure group aligned to the Mangaung Shutdown movement is on Monday expected to bring areas in Metro to a standstill.
Mangaung Service Delivery Forum (MSDF) chairperson, Potso Motoko, says the group will hold a protest march to the offices of different government institutions- barely a month after a similar protest was stages. He says they will march to the Health and Education Departments and to premier Sisi Ntombela's officers over various issues including nepotism, the absorption of Community Health Workers, job opportunities and service delivery. Motoko says they want Ntombela to fire the MEC for Health, Montseng Tsiu, for issues faced by health care workers.
"We have a problem with the department of education. Teachers from outside Mangaung are being hired whilst those in the area are being overlooked as if they do not have the skills to become principals and deputy principals. People from Qwaqwa and all over are being brought here and hired at the expense of locals. So we want local and qualified teachers with experience to be hired in positions of responsibility," Motoko adds.

He says during the protest march to the office of premier they will also raise their concern about the issues of service delivery.
"Our ambulances from the department of Health and police officials are very slow to react calls. Every time one goes to the police station we get told that there are no cars. So we want to know what value does she bring, because it seems as if everything is rotten across all institutions including municipalities, people are not receiving services," Motoko adds.
Motoko and his movement previously threatened to shutdown Bloemfontein and surrounding areas, should the Metro forge ahead with the launch of its police department, come month-end.
