Traffic is flowing again on the N1 between Winburg and Ventersburg following a bus fire in the early hours of Thursday morning.

OFM News previously reported that passengers had a narrow escape after the bus in which they were travelling, caught fire.

Police spokesperson Steven Thakeng said no one was injured in the incident. Thakeng said swift action by the fire brigade and the police, among others, helped the 50 passengers unharmed from the bus. Part of the N1 was temporarily closed but the lane has since been reopened. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
