Free State police launch investigation following #R30 accident─── 07:39 Sun, 24 Apr 2022

Free State police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a car accident that led to the death of six people on the deadly R30 road.
Police spokesperson in Free State, Masilela Langa, tells OFM News that three men and three women died in the early hours of Saturday morning after the deceased driver of the 21 seater Sprinter lost control of the vehicle and overturned.
Langa says that other passengers were taken to various hospitals to receive medical attention.

This follows after OFM News previously reported that the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) had requested the department to reopen the R30 road to ease the traffic during the Easter holidays.
Free State transport MEC William Bulwane had also confirmed that he will be engaging with the Matjhabeng Mayor, Thanduxolo Khalipha, together with mine management, to assist in fixing the road.

This comes after engineers discovered that the water on the road was also caused by leaking mine pipes in the area.
