Following the recent arrests of five male students at the CUT Free State's campus in Bloemfontein, the CUT management told OFM News that the students are aware of all necessary measures taken against those seeking to disrupt campus operations.

Students who act outside the law will have to face the consequences of their actions.

The Central University of Technology (CUT) Free State's management furthermore told OFM News that physical assessments are to continue on campus. This is to mitigate any unintended disruptions due to the unreliable power supply the country is experiencing.

"CUT is a full-contact institution and not a distance learning institution and therefore does not have the authority to accredit examinations that are not done under CUT’s status as a full-contact institution. Furthermore, The Covid-19 restrictions which necessitated virtual classes and virtual assessments have all been suspended."

In response to Sasco's allegations of corruption and mal-administration, CUT's management said they have taken note of the Minister of Higher Education’s intention to appoint an independent assessor to investigate matters related to allegations against the university.
