#ANCvsANC: IPC reacts to court outcome | News Article

The Free State ANC's Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) has responded to Friday's High court outcome.

IPC spokesperson, Oupa Khoabane, says the decision for the ANC to agree to the disbanding of the controversial Mangaung Interim Regional Committee (IRC) was on the cards anyway.

He says the judgment re-emphasised the ANC’s constitutional prescripts, which grants the provincial structure the power to establish and disestablish branches.

Khoabane says the IPC is on course to renew branches and their mandates, in line with the provincial conference roadmap.

It is expected that all branches should convene their conferences in mid-August.

On Friday, irate ANC members dragged the IPC to the High Court in Bloemfontein - seeking a court order for the IPC to be disbanded.

In a twit of events, however, the party then struck a deal with disgruntled members and made deals on three issues.

"The ANC Free State welcomes the judgment in the court case instituted by Ditabe Mokhutle and others against the continued existence of the Interim Regional Committee.

"We expect to reconstitute the Interim Regional Committees very soon, as their mandates have lapsed, and ensure that they assist in taking branches to their conferences. We appeal to all members to follow guidelines for the conferences and the ANC Constitution so that we enable all members to participate in processes," Khoabane further adds.
