Blockchain - an end to corruption?─── 11:49 Fri, 22 Jul 2022

Blockchain technology is reportedly the best way to put an end to corruption. This is according to a CUT student from the Electronics Department, Lucky Mokoalusi.
Mokoalusi said Blockchain technology is a write-only database, where transactions are trackable and irreversible. He further explained that everything that happens through Blockchain remains on the system and is accessible forever.
Blockchain is a system of recording information in a way that makes it difficult or impossible to change, hack, or cheat the system. It is most simply defined as a decentralised, distributed ledger that records the provenance of a digital asset.
Mokoalusi said this technology brings a lot of capabilities, especially for Africa where we have issues of corruption, when it comes to our mineral resources, accountability, and also inflation in currencies.
"We have problems in Africa, such as voting; that's very serious. If we can implement Blockchain in Africa, we can sort out voting. And our resources, we need to know where they are going. We are a rich continent but we are poor. There's a solution, let's implement it. The sooner the better."
He said this technology can be used to also track fake Identity Documents and qualifications.
