The municipality says this is to replace older vehicles that have been decommissioned and thus it wants to make sure that service delivery continues unhindered.

Speaking to OFM News, the municipal spokesperson, Tshidiso Maitse, acknowledged that the municipality is still experiencing challenges with service delivery because of aging infrastructure, amongst others.

"The recent acquisition of the new fleets will go a long way to improving our service delivery."

He adds that the battle for improving service delivery has started in earnest. "Our infrastructure needs repairs and [needs to] be maintained."

However, some residents have had mixed feelings about the newly acquired municipal vehicles.

A resident, Aggy Sehloho, says the first thing that should have been done by the municipality was to ensure that the roads are well fixed.

She believes that the vehicles will be damaged due to the poor condition of roads in the municipality.
