#BethlehemWeek: Dance academy brings joy─── 06:55 Thu, 01 Sep 2022
Residents of the Eastern Free State town of Bethlehem have been "hearing" sleigh bells and experiencing an early Christmas feeling and it might not be their imagination…
The Gail Barr Dance Academy will in October host another one of its extravaganzas - this time, with a holiday theme.
The concert takes place every four years, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, it had to be cancelled.
According to the academy's Gail de Villiers, the concert offers an experience that her students as well as the audience can enjoy.

De Villiers says the theme for the concert originated from a holiday trip to New York, and after all the morbidity surrounding the pandemic, she got the feeling that the theme ‘Christmas’ should be in her next production.
Currently, the event is in its production phase with the students doing rehearsals.
“We promise to have a very happy event because I am doing a happy show called, ‘Time for Joy’,” says De Villiers.
“We’re doing a Christmas-spectacular kind of production. So it’s all going to be a happy kind of event of all the different factors of Christmas - the Christmas tree, Father Christmas, all those types of things that make children happy.
“I want to do something extremely happy and Christmassy, and just bring joy to people’s hearts,” she adds.
It took her six months to plan the music, and all-in-all around a year to make sure each age group ties into a specific music genre, designing costumes and choreographing 26 numbers.
This year’s performance takes place in the Maluti School Hall on 19, 21 and 22 October 2022, the latter also being a gala evening.
