The R503 between Hartbeesfontein and Klerksdorp in the North West is now open to motorists after the unrest that took place early Monday morning 21 November 2022.
Police spokesperson in the province, Adéle Myburgh, confirmed that there was unrest in the morning, caused by at least 25 protesters. According to the information at her disposal, there has not been any arrest made and no one was injured during the protest action.
The road was only closed for at least an hour. OFM received information that there are disgruntled protesters throwing stones and burning tyres on the road in question. “Traffic is now following and there is no disruption,” she adds. It is unclear what could have been the reason for the unrest.
