According to police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, a police officer (28), who is a member of visible policing, and his accomplice (24), were found in possession of stolen cattle. Mokgwabone reveals a farm employee called and informed his employer about people who loaded the cattle from the farm. A search by police and local farmers ensued and a white Toyota Fortuner with a trailer loaded with five cattle was spotted and stopped not far from the farm in Tlakgameng village on a gravel road. The cattle were subsequently returned to the lawful owners after they were identified through brand marks and tags while police seized the trailer and the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Mokgwabone added that another police officer was arrested at Orkney on Friday 5 May 2023. This was after information gathered on Thursday 4 May subsequently resulted in the recovery of a car hijacked in Kanana last month. He explained the car was in a garage at Extension 21, Jouberton.

“A follow-up was made on Friday 5 May 2023, after information was received that the suspect and the sergeant called the complainant respectively and indicated their intention to give back the hijacked car key to him (the complainant) provided he withdraws the case. Subsequent to the identification of the Sergeant and involvement of the Provincial Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit (ACIU), the member was ultimately arrested at Orkney Police Station. He is expected to appear in the Orkney Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for defeating the ends of justice and possession of suspected stolen goods,” Mokgwabone concluded.
