The Black Caps of New Zealand fired a warning shot at the Proteas by thrashing Zimbabwe by an innings and 117 runs during the first Test in Bulawayo.


The Kiwis will be in South Africa shortly where they will face the Proteas in two Tests.

The home side scored 295 in their second innings after being asked to follow-on after being bowled out for 164 runs in their first innings.

The Black Caps in their turn scored 576 runs in their first innings with Tom Latham, Ross Taylor and BJ Watling scoring centuries, while the captain Kane Williamson scored 91 runs.

Taylor was named as the man of the match for his unbeaten 173 runs.

The second Test between Zimbabwe and New Zealand begins on Saturday and will also be played at the Queen Sport Club in Bulawayo.

The first Test between South Africa and New Zealand starts on 19 August at Kingsmead in Durban.
