Steyn on the brink of SA cricket history─── MORGAN PIEK 09:46 Tue, 01 Nov 2016

The Proteas fast bowler, Dale Steyn, is on the brink of South African cricket history as they prepare to face Australia in their three-Test series Down Under.
The series between the two nations has always been one of the most hotly contested clashes in Test history and the upcoming series promises to deliver once again.
The Proteas mustn’t live in the past, this is according to the former Test captain, Hashim Amla.
The star batsman, Amla, is part of a generation that has never lost a test series against Australia.
The Proteas confidence heading into the three-Test series is sky high following their 5-0 ODI series whitewash of Australia, but are aware of the fact that the Baggy Greens will be a totally different kettle of fish Down Under.
The fiery Proteas quick Steyn in particular will be charged up for the series with the Phalaborwa Express needing just six wickets to become the leading South African Test bowler of all-time.
Steyn is just six wickets shy of Shaun Pollock’s record of 421 wickets, which he took in 109 Tests, Steyn will be playing in his 85th Test at the WACA.
Amla says it’s going to be a special moment for the whole team when Steyn breaks Pollock’s’ record.
“Not long ago he got 400 wickets and we thought that is unreal,” said Amla.
“As a player, I’ve probably played with him in the majority of his Test matches, if not all of them.
“The guy is probably in the top ten if not in the top five Test bowlers in the history of the game and for him to get the accolade, whenever he does, will be a really special moment for all of us.
“I certainly feel very strongly about someone like him who has given his heart to the team and always bowled his heart out.
“We will never forget the way he celebrates, it just shows how passionate he is.”
Australia and the Proteas lock horns as from Thursday in the 1st Test which will be played at the WACA in Perth.
