“It's a new season with new challenges. Obviously going to India is never easy but I remember the last time we were there we did quite well beating them in the series so hopefully you know they will give us some confidence going into this series.”

The Proteas Women will head to India next month with confidence as they start turning their attention to the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Despite their recent showing against Sri Lanka at home the Proteas are still upbeat and confident especially after their recent wins against Australia down-under.

The Proteas will head to the subcontinent where they will play in a series of three One-Day Internationals, a one-off Test and three T20 Internationals.

The ODI’s and T20I’s will be the big focus for the teams as there in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup looming, while the points in the 50-overs games will be important in order to qualify for the Women’s Cricket World Cup in India next year.

All seven games will be played in Bengaluru and Chennai.

There is a new and fresh vibe in the camp following the departure of their long-time coach, Hilton Moreeng.

The Proteas batter, Suné Luus, who captained the team during the T20 World Cup last year, said they’re excited for what lies ahead.

“We’ve made some good strides,” said Luus.

“I think we obviously got our first big win in Australia, beating them for the first time. We got a couple of series wins as well, and a few disappointing performances. So I think it was up and down but successful overall.

“It's a new season with new challenges. Obviously going to India is never easy but I remember the last time we were there we did quite well beating them in the series so hopefully you know they will give us some confidence going into this series.”

The first One-Day International between India and South Africa will be played on 16 June in Bengaluru.
