DSG and MI Cape Town share points after match abandoned─── ILSE SMALBERGER 07:19 Mon, 29 Dec 2025
The SA20 clash between Durban Super Giants (DSG) and MI Cape Town was abandoned at Kingsmead on Sunday due to inclement weather.
The heavens opened after DSG, who were inserted after MI Cape Town won the toss and elected to bowl, raced to 37 without loss after four overs. The all-Kiwi opening pair of Devon Conway and Kane Williamson continued from where they left off on Friday at Newlands.
Conway (24 not out off 13 balls) was particularly harsh on his New Zealand compatriot Trent Boult with the left-hander carving out two consecutive sixes in the first over. Williamson (12 not out, 11 balls) then cut League debutant Karim Janat, who came into the MI Cape Town side for Tristan Luus, for consecutive boundaries.

Super Giants’ momentum was stalled, though when the rain came down, which grew heavier as the afternoon progressed, causing the umpires to call off the contest at 18:00. Both teams were awarded two points each, with DSG moving into the top spot on the table with six points after their victory in the competition opener at Newlands last Friday.
Defending champions MI Cape Town move up into fourth place.
On Monday, two-time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape will host Pretoria Capitals at St George’s Park. The match will start at 17:30.
On Tuesday, the action will shift to Durban again when DSG face Joburg Super Kings, who won their first match of the tournament when beating Pretoria Capitals in Centurion.
