Kuruman - The teachers’ union, Naptosa has come out in full support of a catch-up plan for Northern Cape schools.  The union met the head of the provincial education department in Kimberley to get clarity on the matter.

Naptosa’s Louwrens Stydom, says the guidelines, among other things, require schooling hours to be extended by an hour and two hours daily for primary and high schools, respectively.

He says there’ll be no September holidays for negatively affected schools, with four hours learning on Saturdays.

The affected schools are in Kuruman’s John Taolo Gaetsewe district.

Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela is meeting Olifantsoek residents today to try and get schooling back underway after at least five months of no schooling.
