Parys - No further witnesses were called today in the murder case against Ezekiel Mnguni and Mmaditaba Mokubung.
Defence lawyer Godfrey Tlale argued in the Parys magistrate's court that bail should be granted as the accused, who are suspected of murdering and robbing Ernst and Annatjie van Rooyen, don’t have passports or family abroad, thus not making them a flight risk.
Chris Ackeer, ANC Chairperson of ward 18, where the murder occurred, was outside the magistrate’s court today along with several party delegates. They picketed along with community members and farmers from the region, in opposing bail.
