Bloemfontein - The teacher at the centre of the latest racism allegations levelled against Wilgehof Primary School has been traumatised by the manner in which the education department has handled the matter.

SA Teachers Union representative Magda Strydom says she was in a meeting with the woman yesterday when the TV cameras arrived and the teacher was summoned.

She says the fact that the Education Department didn’t realise the teacher is not actually employed by it shows a lack of proper investigation.

OFM has not yet been able to speak directly to the teacher.
 
The department's suspension attempt yesterday came after allegations of racism when the teacher allegedly intervened in an schoolyard fight.
