ANC wishes new indepentent Tlokwe candidate well─── 08:41 Thu, 19 Sep 2013
The ANC wished former councillor and now independent candidate Butiki "Stone" Mahlabe well in his position in the Tlokwe council following his victory in Ward 26 by-elections yesterday.
Mahlabe won the ward with just over 1 400 of the 2 300 valid votes cast. He was one of the 14 councillors expelled by the ANC in July after its provincial disciplinary committee found them guilty on four counts of misconduct for participating in a motion of no confidence against Tlokwe mayor Maphetle Maphetle.
ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu said the ANC were not bad losers which was why they accepted the defeat gracefully. The party won Wards six and 18 by-elections yesterday.
Mahlabe addressed supporters last night.
