Potchefstroom - The office of Kgotso Khumalo, newly elected mayor of Tlokwe in North West, is still not available for comment after drunk driving allegations were levelled against him.
Khumalo has reportedly denied the alleged incident.
JP Smith, mayoral committee member for safety and security in Cape Town, issued a statement saying Khumalo was arrested by metro police in the early morning hours of Saturday in Elsies River for driving on the wrong side of the road.
Meanwhile Democratic Alliance leader in North West Chris Hattingh says the allegations are serious.
