Potchefstroom - Tlokwe Mayor, Kgotso Khumalo, who has admitted to being arrested for drunk driving in Cape Town at the weekend, says he was in the city in his personal capacity and not as an office bearer.
Khumalo's spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite, says the Mayor was arrested at 02:30am on Saturday in Avonwood Avenue in Elsies River for driving on the wrong side of the road, an allegation he has up until now denied.
Khumalo has been charged with reckless and negligent driving, as well as drunken driving.

A court date has yet to be determined, as the results of blood alcohol tests are still being processed.
JP Smith, mayoral committee member for safety and security in Cape Town, says it could take up to nine months for the results to be known.
