Kovsie students' suspension lifted | News Article

Bloemfontein - The management of the University of the Free State has acknowledged the SA Human Rights Commission's September 4 finding.

The commission noted that it was unable to find any corroborating evidence to make a conclusive finding of racism and violation of human rights in the Damane Gwebu case.

Gwebu accused two fellow Kovsie students, Cobus Muller and Charl Blom, of attempted murder and assault.

The incident took place on the Bloemfontein campus on February 17.

The city's regional court this morning acquitted Muller and Blom of all charges.

The university suspended them, two days after the incident.

UFS Rector Jonathan Jansen says they take cognisance of today's ruling.
