Kovsie lecturer receives knighthood from French government | News Article

Bloemfontein - A lecturer at the University of the Free State is set to join the ranks of people like William Kentridge and Johnny Clegg when she receives a knighthood from the French government.

Naomi Morgan will travel to the French Embassy in Pretoria today where she will be decorated as a Knight of the Arts and Literature.

She is being recognized for her translation work of plays such as Oskar en die Pienk Tannies, as well as translations of Afrikaans songs to French for the popular Afri-Frans compilation.

Morgan says she is personally overwhelmed by the honour but is even more ecstatic that the French Government is giving such weighty recognition to what she terms the art of translation.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Pretoria at around18:30 today.
