Concourt to hear IEC vote rigging case─── DANE BEISHEIM 06:37 Thu, 10 Sep 2015
Johannesburg - The Constitutional Court will today hear the case involving allegations of vote rigging against the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) during the 2013 municipal by-elections in the Tlokwe Municipality in North West.
Eight independent candidates allege that voters were bused in from other regions in the province, and that there were other irregularities during the election. This after nine ANC councillors were dismissed by the party for tabling a motion of no confidence in former Tlokwe Mayor Mapetla Mapetla. The ANC won eight of the nine wards.
The independent candidates' legal representative, Hans-Jurie Moolman, says they are confident of their chance at victory.
