Welkom - Free State police are requesting assistance in tracing a 13-year-old St. Andrews School learner who was recently reportedly missing.

According to police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng, the boy was last seen when he was taken to school. He however left the school premises to his home and fetched his cellphone, tablet and two bags full of clothes without the permission of his parents.

"This morning, at about 09:00 a learner of St. Andrews school, Jonathan Begashaw was taken to school by his parents in Welkom. The mother Lilian Begashaw received a call from school that his child has left the school premises. Apparently, he went home to fetch his Cellphone, Tablet, clothing and left home with unknown mode of transport. According to information, he informed other people that he wants to proceed with a career in the music industry in Warrant Officer Piet Jacobs of Welkom Police Station"

Thakeng says the mother has registered a case of missing file and a manhunt has been launched to look for the boy.

He was last seen wearing a white jean trouser, a white golf t-shirt, maroon track top and Jordan tekkie shoes.

Should anyone have information leading to the tracing of the child, Warrant Officer Piet Jacobs of Welkom Police Station can be contacted at telephone number (057) 391 6011 during office hours.
