Kimberley - The four suspects in the disappearance of five-year-old Kimberley girl, Keithumetsi Magwadibane, have been released after the matter had been struck from the roll.

The court had been waiting for DNA results from swabs taken from one accused's house, as well as a decision from the Directorate of Public Prosecution on proceeding with prosecutions.

The Attorney for the accused complained that the case has been on the roll for several months and remanded numerous times. He believes not much effort is being made by the State to conclude their investigation and this is infringing on the rights of the accused, as they have been in custody since July. He requested that the matter be struck from the roll, pending the completion of the State's investigation.

Magistrate A. Williams said the charges they face were very serious and in the public interest, and when balancing the rights of the accused with that of the missing girl's family, he had to remove the matter from the roll.
