Free wifi for Kimberley’s Oppenheimer Park─── DANE BEISHEIM 06:36 Mon, 20 Mar 2017

Kimberley - Kimberley’s Oppenheimer Park can look forward to free wireless internet access in the near future.
Vice-Chancellor of the Sol Plaatje University, Professor Yunis Ballim, says the hardware has been installed and the system should go live by the end of the month.
According to Ballim the University undertook this project along with the Sol Plaatje municipality to improve the expression of citizenship among residents of Kimberley. "The intention is that citizens, particularly young people, should return and take ownership of their park. A park in a city should really belong to the citizens, and we don’t think that this is the case at the moment,” Ballim added.
Ballim says although the internet connection will not be high-speed broadband, it should provide fair access to the internet for residents.
