Bloemfontein - The North West Provincial Government has dismissed allegations that premier, Supra Mahumapelo, is using his provincial rebranding campaign to loot state funds.

On Sunday City Press revealed that opposition parties in the province - including the EFF and the DA – claim that Mahumapelo’s current roadshow to promote his Supranomics philosophy is “just an excuse to dish out contracts for, among others, catering, transport and marquees to his people.”

The Premier’s spokesperson, Brian Setswambung, says the attacks by the opposition are nothing unusual but just another opportunity for them to get coverage at the expense of Mahumapelo.

“The fact of the matter is that the premier has indicated on several platforms that if there is any evidence about the allegations and accusations that they are making, they would have long gone to the law enforcement agencies to actually lay charges against the premier but they are not doing it. And the reason is because they know that there is no truth in the allegations. It is for this reason that they will continue to use the court of public opinion to accuse the premier wrongly.”

He adds that the premier will continue to implement his vision in the province regardless.
