Suspect to appear in Brits Court on attempted murder | News Article

A 24-year-old suspect will appear before the Brits Magistrate's Court on charges of attempted murder today.

The suspect allegedly shot and injured Tebogo Ndlovu before his disappearance on a farm near Mooinooi in August. This happened before community members embarked on violent protests leading to the burning of five vehicles as well as the barricading of the N4, R104 and R566 roads. Ndlovu and two other men were allegedly stealing oranges before the suspect shot at them. According to police’s Sabata Mokgwabone, the suspect was arrested on Saturday after an intensive investigation.

“We have not been able to find Tebogo Ndlovu, who is still missing even today after that incident. We are therefore appealing to members of the community to come forward with any information which may assist us in tracing the missing person, namely Tebogo Ndlovu. North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, also urges members of the community to work together with the police. She also thanks everybody who contributed to this case,” explains Mokgwabone.

Two suspects, aged 38 and 40, had been arrested on charges of public violence during the protests. The suspects were allegedly involved in the pelting of passing motorists with stones, barricading of roads and burning of two trucks and a bakkie, according to Mokgwabone.

Anyone who has information on the missing Ndlovu can contact the investigation team on 082-416-0767.
