A 38-year-old farmworker who allegedly murdered her employer, the Ficksburg farmer, Barry Baars, is expected to appear in the Local Magistrate's Court today.
Nthabiseng Ledwaba was taken in for questioning on November 3 this month after she was allegedly the last person seen with Baars before his murder on October 31 on the farm Daskop.
According to Free State police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, his body was discovered at about 09:00 by some of his farmworkers in his bed in his bedroom. Baars had a bullet wound to the chin.
A police investigation revealed there was no forced entry to the farmhouse. A small safe in the kitchen was tampered with, but it wasn't opened, Mbambo said earlier.
A larger safe in the bedroom was found opened with a key still in the door. Firearms were found in the safe. According to Mbambo a firearm that belonged to Baars is still missing.
Ledwaba was arrested after taken in for questioning. Her first court appearance was on November 7. The police investigation, to determine whether there could be other accomplices involved in the murder, continues.
It is expected that a date for Ledwaba's bail application will be set today.
