Free State ANC interim coordinator, William Bulwane, confirms that the renovations to turn Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's house into a museum in Brandfort will be completed by end of 2019.

Bulwane refutes allegations that funds were embezzled. He says R3 million was allocated for the project and R204 000 was spent on the designs, while R2,7 million was re-directed to renovate the Wesleyan church where the ANC was established, ahead of the centenary celebrations in 2012.

Bulwane says some of the money earmarked for this project was used to build the Plaatjie family another house and furnish it after they were told they could no longer live in Mandela's old house.

Bulwane says the spotlight at this stage should rather be on celebrating Winnie Mandela's achievements and not on overshadowing them with allegations.

Bulwane further called for the discipline and reprimand of Trevor Manuel, stating that is was reckless of him to accuse Secretary General Ace Magashule of corruption and stealing money that was meant for this project, without presenting any evidence.

Bulwane said Luthuli House needs to intervene when politicians use funerals and the passing of struggle icons for political gain.
