This is according to Adv. Wim Trengove who was presenting the state's heads of argument in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein today. 

Trengove described the whole Bank of Baroda's pool account transactions as 'money laundering'. He told the court that the applicants in this case, Oakbay Investments, its acting CEO, Ronica Raghavan and the Guptas' nephew Varun Gupta, among others, are the beneficiaries of 'dirty money'.

This, after Advocate Mike Hellens‚ representing Oakbay and other Gupta-owned companies‚ earlier criticised the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) for failing to understand the country's banking system, which according to him resulted in the applicants being wrongly charged. 

Hellens maintains that there is no link connecting his clients to the funds syphoned off the Estina project, while the state says funds intended for the dairy farm project were laundered and placed into Bank of Baroda accounts linked to the Guptas.

Court proceedings still continue.
