FS Premier promises Jagersfontein will have water on Thursday─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 10:22 Thu, 21 Jun 2018
Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela has promised the Jagersfontein community that water supply will be restored by Thursday.
Ntombela said this during her address to disgruntled residents in an open field, a short distance from Itumeleng Clinic, on Wednesday. She said the provincial government has decided to allocate some of its budget to help Kopanong Municipality make the payment to Bloem Water, so that residents can have access to water. The municipality is said to owe the water board R 250 million.
Ntombela told the community they aren’t the only small town facing service delivery challenges. According to her, the municipality is struggling to meet its commitments due to low revenue collection which she attributes to the high unemployment rate in the small mining town.
