The 34-year old Zacharia Nyalimathe, who was found guilty by the North West High Court in Mahikeng yesterday for the murder of a farm owner in Sannieshof last year will be sentenced next week Tuesday.

North West police spokesperson, Adele Myburgh, told OFM News, Nyalimathe was convicted for various offences that include the murder and attempted murder of 59-year old BC Greyling and his then 57-year old wife, Marlette.

As well as housebreaking with intent to rob, robbery with aggravating circumstances numerous unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition counts.

The Greylings were attacked during a robbery on Leeuwkuil farm by Nyalimathe and his accomplices on the evening of May 16 last year.

The men broke a window and gained entrance to the property after which they started shooting at the couple. BC was shot in the chest and died at the scene while his wife was injured, but survived the attack.

The deceased’s mother was hiding under a table elsewhere in the house during the attack and did not sustain any injuries. The men left the property with three cellphones and a white Isuzu double cab.

The vehicle was found abandoned later that day in Ottosdal, while the cellphones were also recovered.

Nyaliamthe’s accomplices, Tebogo Lawrence Mogolotsane (28), Joseph Zakeya (32) and Neo Frans Khubone (27), were found guilty earlier this year and sentenced to 76 years imprisonment respectively.
