Two people dead after two freak accidents in Vereeniging and George─── 13:07 Sat, 16 Apr 2011
Vereeniging - A man was killed when he was run over by a bus on Houtkop Road in Duncanville, Vereeniging. Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks says the man had allegedly been aboard the bus and offered to take over from the driver. He alighted from the vehicle and for some reason the people carrier moved forward and struck him. He says the force of the impact forced the man to the ground and the vehicle's wheels passed over him. He sustained critical injuries and died before paramedics arrived. And outside George a woman in her late thirties burnt to death after losing control of her car and crashing into a tree on the Harold's Bay Road. ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks says it is believed that the woman lost control over her car while negotiating a corner. Members of public who were on the scene were unable to free the woman as the flames were too severe.
