Mass-funeral held for Vaal Dam crash victims─── 12:53 Sat, 04 Jun 2011
Vereeniging - A mass funeral is being held today in Vereeniging for the six family members who died when their car crashed into the Vaal Dam a few weeks ago. The Saturday Star reports that the daughter of the driver who was killed in the accident, Dudu Nkala, said the council has given them the Zone Three stadium in Sebokeng for the service. She said that the families had been offered assistance in various forms, including lawyers and counselling. A 37-year-old man and five females, aged from two to 74, drowned when their Opel Corsa crashed through a bridge barrier and landed in the Vaal Dam at Oranjeville in the Free State late last month. It is believed that pot holes on the bridge may have caused the accident, and the families are considering legal action.
